AI should make students think

Most students use AI to skip the thinking. A tool for schools has to guide with questions, and be good enough that students choose it.

AI in schools should make students think critically. But most students use it to think zero thoughts.

We need a tool that guides with questions instead of handing over answers: the Socratic approach. This way, students can still develop the necessary critical thinking and keep their cognitive load.

“It's time to start finding ways to work with AI, rather than against it.”

But the problem is that even if the tool does that, nothing stops a student from opening another tab and using ChatGPT.

That means our Socratic tool has to be better. It should outperform general AI models at the specific task, and prove more engaging and useful, while still pushing students to do the work themselves.

Not only this, but we think teachers should also be able to see exactly how students interact with the AI, including the conversation and every keystroke. This lets students complete digital work at home while giving teachers visibility into how it was produced.
